Is there more than one SHIELD organization affiliated with the University of Illinois?

Yes. There are three. All of them perform the covidSHIELD saliva test for SARS-CoV-2 which was developed by researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).

The three SHIELD organizations are:

SHIELD C-U

SHIELD C-U (Champaign Urbana) handles testing on the UIUC campus and the surrounding area using the covidSHIELD test.

SHIELD T3

SHIELD T3 is a university-affiliated organization that focuses on deploying the covidSHIELD test outside of the state of Illinois--including internationally. 

SHIELD Illinois

SHIELD Illinois is the SHIELD Deployment Unit of the University of Illinois System. We focus on working with health departments, government organizations, schools, and businesses within the state of Illinois to provide fast, accurate, and inexpensive SARS-CoV-2 testing using the covidSHIELD test. As part of the University of Illinois system, SHIELD Illinois is a non-profit organization.
